The German airline Lufthansa canceled an evening flight from Munich to Kiev due to the “political situation”.
This was announced on the Facebook page by ex-People’s Deputy Viktoria Voytsytska, who was supposed to fly on an evening flight.
According to her, the Lufthansa plane was supposed to take off from Munich at 21:00 on Saturday, January 22, and arrive in Kiev at 00:10. However, the flight was rescheduled for 6 am on Sunday, January 23. The ex-people’s deputy added that the same situation happened with the same flight and the day before.
According to Wojcicka, the airline explained the reasons for the postponement of the flight by saying that “the crew of Lufthansa cannot stay in Ukraine overnight due to the political situation.”
When the passengers boarded the plane, they were told once again that the crew could not spend the night in Ukraine due to “political tensions.”
“By the way, the airline refused to compensate for any expenses precisely because of “political instability,” although passengers were forced to wait for the plane for more than 8 hours,” Voytsytska said.
In a commentary to European Pravda , the former head of the Center for Strategic Communications and Information Security, Lyubov Tsybulskaya, who also flew on this flight, confirmed that the airline’s representatives at the check-in desk, and then in the cabin, called the political situation the reason for the postponement of the flight.
“We do not allow our crews to stay overnight because of the political situation in Ukraine,” Tsybulska quoted Lufthansa workers as saying. At the same time, according to her, the airline paid for the overnight stay at the hotel.
Evropravda also notes that Lufthansa postponed two flights from Frankfurt to Kiev scheduled for January 22 and 23 at 17:10 the next morning.
At the same time, Austrian Airlines, which is part of the Lufthansa group, has not yet rescheduled the evening flight from Vienna to Kiev.
