Putin’s invasion made Ukraine’s membership of the alliance a moral and strategic imperative, the former British prime minister said.
Long-term peace in Ukraine is impossible without granting Kiev membership in NATO . This was stated by former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson in an interview with the Lithuanian publication Delfi .
According to him, before the full-scale Russian invasion, Ukraine could not realistically count on NATO membership in the near future, since “the reality was that the French were very against it, the Germans were very against it, not to mention the Hungarians and others.”

“It was not on the international agenda. There was no way that Ukraine could be invited into NATO. But the paradox is that Putin’s invasion, his barbaric decision to do it, has now, in my view, made it a moral and strategic imperative,” Johnson said.
At the same time, in his opinion, the problem now is that the issue of Ukraine joining the Alliance is not being actively discussed:
“I don’t hear anyone saying that when this disaster is over, the solution should be for Ukraine to join NATO. People have stopped talking about it. And I think that’s a big, big loss, because the West is retreating again.”

NATO-membership will never be granted to Ukraine. America, Germany, Hungary and Slowakia are against it forever.
“And I think that’s a big, big loss, because the West is retreating again.”
A good look at the faces of various leaders in Western capitols should be enough to know why the West is on the losing side. They are champions at blowing hot air and hiding beneath their desks, and that’s it.
