The aid package includes more than 300 units of the most important equipment.

Lithuanian state energy company Ignitis Group will transfer critical equipment from Vilnius Thermal Power Plant 3 to Ukraine.

The company ‘s website states that it will help restore the country’s destroyed energy infrastructure. The official handover is scheduled for July 15. The contract was signed with Khmelnitskoblenergo OJSC, which has been appointed responsible for receiving and distributing humanitarian aid for the energy sector.

“It was not by chance that we chose the equipment of Vilnius TPP-3 for the transfer. In addition to the fact that it will work well in the energy infrastructure of Ukraine, it also meets the requirements of the transmission system operator,” noted CEO Asta Sungailiene.

The operation of this thermal power plant was stopped back in 2015. The reason was that the operating costs were too high, and its units did not have a significant impact on the stability of the energy system.

Ignitis Group noted that they managed to preserve the CHP equipment with a total thermal and electrical capacity of almost 1,000 MW. It provided heat to about half of the city for more than 30 years.
