So-called exit visas will be required for trips even to friendly countries.

Russians will be banned from leaving the country without the permission of the authorities. The relevant amendments to the legislation have already begun to be developed. This was reported by the Russian opposition project “We Can Explain” , citing sources in diplomatic circles and the Kremlin.

According to the publication’s interlocutors, it is planned to introduce something like an exit visa.

Thus, tourists will be allowed to travel to “unfriendly countries” (for example, NATO countries) only in groups of no less than 10 people, accompanied by an escort and following an approved route. This restriction is presented as a measure “for the safety of Russian citizens.”

As for other countries around the world, you can travel there on your own. However, the specific list of countries you are allowed to travel to has yet to be approved.

“But an exit visa will be needed in any case. It shouldn’t be like now: I bought a ticket and flew. The state must grant permission,” an informed source told the publication.

As “We Can Explain” notes, the described system is reminiscent of what existed in the USSR: any trip abroad required a special permit from the state, and foreign tourism was possible only as part of organized groups.
