Life will be made easier for Ukrainians abroad: a number of consular actions will be completely transferred online

Ukrainians will be able to use the updated system this year and will not need to go to the embassy or consulate.

The Cabinet of Ministers adopted a resolution on the creation of the e-Consul information and communication system, which will provide a number of services for Ukrainians abroad , the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) reports .

“Some consular actions will be completely transferred online and there will be no need to even go to the consular department. Others can be carried out much faster and easier, because documents will be pulled from state registers automatically. All this together will demonstrate a new quality of the state’s attitude to the needs of citizens, will contribute to unity, maintaining ties and developing the Ukrainian world community,” said Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba.

Currently, the digital platform created by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is operating in a closed mode. It is testing an updated electronic queue, electronic offices of the applicant and consul, automated pilot services in the field of notaries, and the preparation of certificates.

The MFA is working on connecting the system to state registers and information databases, which will reduce the operational time of providing MFA services to citizens by 30-80%, depending on the type of service. It is expected that Ukrainians will be able to use the updated system this year. It is currently undergoing the necessary security checks, testing for vulnerabilities, the strength of data encryption algorithms and resistance to peak loads.

The day before, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Ukrainian citizens abroad will receive a document delivery service , primarily passports, at a significantly lower cost compared to international commercial companies.

Thus, the single price of delivery to any country in the world will be $6 and 10 UAH VAT, which is several times cheaper compared to commercial services. Now such a service costs $70-$100.
