Ukraine and the United States are returning to the agreement on
rare earth minerals. The parties will sign it as soon as possible.
This was stated by Republican Congressman, member of the House of Representatives, one of the leaders of the Ukraine Support Group in the US Congress Brian Fitzpatrick after a conversation with the head of the President’s Office Andriy Yermak. He reported on the outcome of the talks on the social network X.
The congressman emphasized that this agreement will mark the beginning of a long-term economic partnership and lead to “security assistance.”
“I just had a long and productive one-on-one conversation with President Volodymyr Zelensky’s Chief of Staff, Andriy Yermak. We are 100% getting this train back on the rails. This minerals agreement will be signed as soon as possible, leading to a strong long-term economic partnership between the United States and Ukraine, and this will ultimately naturally lead to security assistance,” the Republican congressman wrote.
Fitzpatrick stressed that Europe must “step up and do its part, and there will be mandates for it to do so.”

In turn, the head of the OP, Andriy Yermak, also commented on the telephone conversation with Brian Fitzpatrick. He emphasized that economic partnership is necessary for both countries.
According to Yermak, both sides are moving towards an agreement to be signed by the presidents of the United States and Ukraine.
“We discussed the issue of moving towards a just peace and the Minerals Agreement with the US. We need an economic partnership, both of our countries. There is mutual understanding, we are moving towards a decision that the leaders of our states should make,” Yermak wrote.
Recall that on February 28, the process of signing a mineral agreement in Washington collapsed.
On February 28, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky paid an official visit to the United States . The main purpose of the visit was to sign a mineral rights agreement. The Ukrainian president also planned to give a speech at the Hudson Institute.
However, during the public part of the meeting, an argument broke out between Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky, US President Donald Trump, and Vice President J.D. Vance. Zelensky and Trump later held a closed-door conversation, but it did not last long.
After tense negotiations with US leader Donald Trump, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy left the White House early. The signing of the minerals agreement, as previously announced, did not take place.
On Monday, March 3, US President Donald Trump said that the minerals deal “is not dead yet.” He also promised to speak tomorrow about the future of the minerals deal with Ukraine.

For whatever this is worth…
For clarity, did this conversation take place before or after the trumpkov aid block?
A good sign if it was afterwards, but I fear it was before…
Beats me. I wouldn’t sign anything if I were Zelensky.
“This minerals agreement will be signed as soon as possible, leading to a strong long-term economic partnership between the United States and Ukraine, and this will ultimately naturally lead to security assistance,”
This is arse about face. The security assistance should be in place before any deals are signed, not after.
