Ukraine insists on Putin’s personal participation in the negotiations.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will not participate in the talks scheduled for May 15 in Istanbul, the Russian newspaper Kommersant reported .
“Who exactly will represent Russia at the meeting has not yet been officially announced,” the report says.

It is recalled that The Washington Post, citing a former high-ranking Kremlin source, reported on Lavrov’s possible participation in the negotiations. It was claimed that Russia would be represented by Putin’s foreign policy aide Yuri Ushakov.
It is also indicated that earlier, the press secretary of the Kremlin head, Dmitry Peskov, stated that Putin had working meetings scheduled for May 15. At the same time, he evaded answering the question of where exactly they would take place.
