Lavrov criticizes Turkey over Ukraine

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov openly criticized Turkey for providing military aid to the Ukrainian army.

In an interview with Hurriyet , he said that Moscow “highly appreciates” Ankara’s efforts to resolve the war, but it continues military-technical cooperation with Kiev. “Turkish weapons are used by the Ukrainian Armed Forces to kill Russian servicemen and civilians,” he said.

Lavrov assures that Russia is supposedly open to a political solution to the war, but the talk should not be about a temporary ceasefire, but about “eliminating the root causes”:

“These include NATO’s expansion to the east, threats to Russia’s vital security interests, and the Kyiv regime’s violation of the rights of Russians and Russian-speaking residents of Ukraine.”
