Kyiv Surprised Me

Ukraine Matters

  1. The images of the flags of fallen foreign volunteers alongside Ukrainians on Maidan caused me to riff on an old topic : western governments refusing to send troops for fear of upsetting their voter base and their advice to private citizens not to volunteer.
Both of these policies were and are wrong. During her brief tenure as PM, Liz Truss revealed herself to be a big Ukraine supporter and did to her credit encourage British people with the right background to volunteer.
That was the right stance to take, but absolutely no one else has done or will do.
Sadly it appears that no “official” foreign combat troops will arrive either, except in the guise of the “coalition of the willing”, which should be renamed “the appeasement coalition”, since it will only occur if putler signs a “peace deal”. As the rat nazi will not sign anything other than capitulation to his absurd terms, the genocide will continue indefinitely.
Unless of course the putinaZi vermin are crushed.
The British army is writing to its retired officers and ranks to ask them to volunteer to remobilise if needed and if fit.
DT contributor Col Hamish de Breton-Gordon has already offered his services. He has already test-driven the army’s new light tank and stated that he’d be combat-ready within four weeks.
IMHO, all allies of Ukraine should be doing the same, but also asking for volunteers for Ukraine; to fight under the Ukrainian flag, but to be paid for and fitted out by their governments.
Of course we should all also be asking for retired pilots with eg : F16 experience to volunteer. Apparently many have said they would be prepared to.
Anything and everything must be done to shorten this terrible war.
