The speed limit of 161 km/h remains in force, seriously hampering key military operations, including medium-range strikes and interception of high-speed drones.

The Starlink system in Ukraine continues to operate with a speed limit of 161 kilometers per hour, a Ukrainian official told the Kyiv Independent newspaper .

It is noted that the official’s statement contradicts claims cited by the Wall Street Journal, which reported that Starlink functionality in Ukraine had returned to normal after a phone conversation between SpaceX CEO Elon Musk and US President Donald Trump.

But when a Ukrainian official was asked about these allegations, he replied that they were “all false.”

“In general, nothing has changed anywhere,” the official said.

According to him, the speed limit of 161 km/h remains in force, which seriously hinders key military operations, including medium-range strikes and interception of high-speed drones.

Importantly, Ukraine has been trying to figure out the reasons for the limitation – and restore service at its previous speed level – since Starlink service was interrupted without warning on October 14.

On October 22, Zelensky told reporters that he was waiting for a response from U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio on whether Starlink could be restored at speeds of up to 400 km/h. He promised to get back to him within 48 hours, Zelensky said, but final answers could take longer. The official said:

“Maybe by morning something will become clear. Right now the main interesting aspect is that there is absolutely no explanation as to what is happening. Even though it is a top priority system.”
