The russian federation is not considering halting its attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure.
Russian Presidential Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov has stated this, explaining the refusal by noting that the energy sector is a vulnerable area for Ukraine. It was reported by russian media.
According to him, the issue of an energy ceasefire is not currently being discussed in detail at any level.
“Kyiv is currently proposing not a long-term settlement, but a ceasefire in the sector that is their Achilles’ heel—the energy sector,” Peskov said.
In addition, the kremlin spokesman claims that the russian military continues to carry out systematic strikes on targets in Ukraine, and “the situation on the ground is getting worse and worse for Ukraine.”
Despite this, Peskov reiterated that a “peaceful settlement” remains a priority for russia. He also added that Abu Dhabi is being considered as a possible venue for future trilateral meetings, but only if concrete negotiations begin.
As a reminder, Zelenskyy previously stated that Ukraine is ready to seek compromises with russia to resolve the “most pressing issues” regarding grain exports and energy.
