According to Putin’s spokesman, such a reaction is contradictory to international law
Dmitry Peskov, a spokesman for President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, said that the decisions of a number of countries not to recognize the legitimacy of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko were contrary to international law and did not promote dialogue between the states.

“We do not welcome such decisions that have been made by a number of European countries (which have not recognized Lukashenko as the legitimate president of Belarus – 112 International.). We believe that these decisions are contradictory to international law, these decisions certainly do not promote dialogue and, in fact, they are also should be considered as indirect interference in the country’s internal affairs,” Peskov said.
As we reported earlier, authorities of Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovakia, and Estonia have not recognized Alexander Lukashenko as head of the Republic of Belarus.
The European Union expects that the Belarusian authorities will restrain from any further repressions and violence aiming against Belarus and will release all detainees, including political prisoners.

Supporting a president who lost big time the elections is against international law.
This is the same country that refused to recognise Poroshenko as leader of Ukraine, in a democratic election.
