At the same time, Russia criticized Europe for allegedly wanting the conflict in Ukraine to continue.

The Kremlin has said that US President Donald Trump’s policy towards Ukraine “largely coincides” with that of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, The Telegraph reports .
“The new administration is rapidly changing all configurations of its foreign policy. This largely coincides with our vision. There is still a long way to go, because bilateral relations as a whole have suffered enormous damage. But if the political will of the two leaders, President Putin and President Trump, is preserved, this path can be quite fast and successful,” said Kremlin Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov.
In turn, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov praised Trump, but warned against peacekeeping troops in Ukraine. In particular, he praised the US president for “directly” saying that he wants to end the war in Ukraine, but criticized Europe for “wanting to continue the conflict.”
In addition, Lavrov once again warned Ukraine’s “arrogant” allies against sending peacekeepers in the event of a ceasefire.
“The West cannot explain what will happen to the territory of Ukraine if European peacekeepers are deployed,” the minister added.
