Personnel losses
In April 2024, Russian occupation forces lost 25,840 people. This is not a record figure, but significant enough to prevent the ROV from not only compensating for losses, but also significantly increasing the manpower component.
Let me remind you that in October 2023, the losses of the occupiers amounted to 22,920 people, in November – 28,550, in December – 29,970, in January 2024 – 26,220, in February – 28,450, and in March – 28,200.
That is, the level of personnel losses at the ROV in April is close to the losses in January 2024. But this is provided that in the past month two epicenters of clashes can be noted – these are Chasov Yar and the Pokrovskoe direction (northwest of Avdeevka), while in January the entire line of clashes pulsated.
Tank losses
In April, ROV lost 321 tanks. This is far from a record or even a top indicator, but, on the other hand, a number of conclusions can also be drawn from this. For example, regarding the fact that this component is destroyed monthly in approximately the same quantity in which the military-industrial complex of the Russian Federation can restore/produce tanks for sending to a combat zone.
On the other hand, restoration is complicated by the growing number of main battle tanks, the repair of which requires more time, and therefore the monthly supply of products to the database area is reduced. This forces the ROV to increasingly use in assault operations tanks that are not of the fourth generation, as well as equipment that does not perform the functionality of an MBT.

Losses of armored fighting vehicles
AFV losses in April amounted to 725 units. This is also not a record figure, but high enough to limit the process of accumulating armored fighting vehicles among the occupying forces within acceptable limits.
It is also worth noting that in the third year of the war, the Russian occupiers received the first BMP-3 with dynamic protection based on the EDZ 4S24, which increases the survivability of this vehicle in the combat zone. This is due to the fact that the losses of armored fighting vehicles in Ukraine near the ROV are high, including due to the weak armor of Soviet/Russian combat vehicles. Previously, the occupiers tried to reduce losses through the use of additional protection kits: in particular, BMP-2 675-SB3KDZ, BMP-3 688M-SB3KDZ and BTR-82AT, equipped with similar SB3KDZ kits. Barrel artillery losses
In April, the ROV recorded an indicator of barrel artillery losses – 929. This is not a record, but the third result in the third year of the war, so to speak – “bronze”.
In other words, even despite the extremely difficult situation with ammunition and artillery systems of the Ukrainian Harrow Forces, the intensity and quality of counter-battery warfare has not decreased since the beginning of 2024.
MLRS losses
The number of destroyed multiple launch rocket systems for the occupiers in April was 30.
This rather low figure has been maintained since December 2023 and is due to the fact that, due to their small number in the troops compared to cannon artillery, they try to keep them as far away from the combat line as possible, which complicates the destruction of this component.
Air defense losses
During April, Russian occupiers lost 36 air defense systems. This is the average loss rate in this component and is due to the stable and routine process of hunting and eliminating air defense systems.
It is worth separately noting the extremely painful loss for the ROV at the airfield in Dzhankoy of the S-400 air defense system battalion from the 18th air defense missile system. Moreover, the loss of not only launchers, but also radar.
Vehicle losses
In April, the occupiers recorded the second highest loss in this category for the entire period of the war – 1,423. Let me remind you that the absolute record – 1,546 units – was recorded in March.
Such a high rate of destruction of vehicles is due to the fact that unarmored civilian vehicles are becoming standard equipment for Russian units due to an acute, even critical shortage and shortage of armored vehicles.
The lack of tanks, armored fighting vehicles, and armored vehicles for regular, systematic assaults on the positions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces is compensated by transport without any armor at all. In this regard, the increase in losses of this component is simply phenomenal for the second month in a row.
Losses of special equipment
