2.07.2024 – Translated from Ukrainian via Google and OFP

In June 2024, the occupation contingent of the Russian army set several new records for losses incurred, and also took no less important second places since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. This is due to both the failed opening of the Kharkov front in the Liptsi and Vovchansk area, and a number of other factors, which we will analyze.
More details about this can be found in the material of the joint project of OBOZ.UA and the group “Information Resistance”.
Losses of personnel
In June, the Russian occupation forces did not lose a record number of personnel, but nevertheless this is the second result for the entire time since the beginning of the full-scale invasion in February 2022 – 35,030. And this only confirms the fact that the intensity of the fighting is resulting in losses for the occupiers that are higher than their average monthly mobilization potential.
Let me remind you that the previous record figure was recorded a month earlier, in May 2024 (at the height of the Kharkiv ROV operation) – 38,940.
The June “silver” result is due to the fact that, in addition to the two epicenters of clashes – Chasov Yar and the Pokrovskoe direction (northwest of Avdiivka), the command of the occupation forces is trying to maintain its presence in the direction of Vovchansk and Liptsy. In turn, the presence in the Kharkiv region only grinds down Russian resources, having already deprived a number of ROV units of combat capability.
Tank losses
In June, the Russian occupiers lost 359 tanks. This is not a record figure, but given the capabilities of the Russian military-industrial complex to send an average of 350-400 main battle tanks (MBT) to the combat zone every month, it is quite painful in terms of replenishing losses.
It is worth noting that in assault operations and in their summer offensive campaign in general, the ROV is trying to minimize the use of scarce mechanized components, including MBTs. Basically, infantry is thrown into the meat grinder without serious “armor” support, which is reflected in personnel losses.
Losses of armored combat vehicles
The occupation forces’ losses of armored fighting vehicles in June amounted to 603 units, which is also not a special record – but this is not surprising. The fact is that in May the ROV suffered some of the heaviest losses of armored fighting vehicles – 880 units, and therefore in June they were forced to hold this component in reserve in order to cope with compensation.
I have long been drawing attention to the fact that in the third year of the war, the occupiers have encountered serious problems with providing troops with a proportional number of armored fighting vehicles corresponding to the standard complement of units, which is why in most cases they are replaced by unarmored vehicles, which also leads to an increase in personnel losses.
In turn, even such a figure of losses of armored vehicles is sensitive and painful for the occupiers.
Losses of barrel artillery
In June, the ROV recorded an absolute record for losses of barrel artillery – 1415. The previous one for the entire period of the full-scale war was in May – 1160!
The reason was the replenishment of the ammunition of the Ukrainian Defense Forces with artillery ammunition and the advancement of counter-battery warfare to a new level of counteraction, as well as the agreement on the use of Western systems on Russian territory – and this significantly expanded our capabilities to destroy artillery systems hidden on Russian territory.
MLRS losses
In June, the SDU destroyed 23 Russian multiple launch rocket systems.
The MLRS category has long demonstrated a very low indicator. This is due to the fact that these systems (due to the small number of them remaining in the troops in comparison with barrel artillery) the occupiers try to keep not in the near zone along the line of combat, but at an extreme distance. This complicates their destruction, but, as we can see, does not make it absolutely impossible.
Air defense losses
During June, the Russian occupiers lost 59 air defense systems, which is the second largest result.
This became possible thanks to systematic work to destroy the S-300/S-400 systems – both in the temporarily occupied Crimea and on the mainland territory of Ukraine and Russia.
As we can see, the effectiveness of the hunt for Russian air defense is quite high, and it continues!
Losses of vehicles
In June, the ROV also received “silver” in the category of motor vehicle losses – 1707.
So far, it has not been possible to surpass the May record of 1831, but everything is ahead, since the occupiers use motor transport everywhere.
Such losses are due to an acute, even critical, shortage of armored vehicles.
Losses of special equipment
In this category, Russian occupation forces set an absolute record in June – 267.
Since the beginning of 2024, the losses of special equipment of the ROV have remained high, which is due to the growing need to evacuate damaged equipment from the line of combat engagement, to carry out engineering work near the zone of active combat operations and, of course, due to the constant presence of engineering troops in the affected area.
Let me remind you that it was at the end of June that the first information appeared about Russia’s request to the DPRK regarding the sending of North Korean troops to Ukraine. Of course, this is unverified information for now, but if it is confirmed, it will only prove the extreme exhaustion of Russian engineering troops in the third year of the war.
conclusions
As we can see, in June several absolute records were recorded for losses of Russian occupation troops, as well as “silver medalists”.
June confirmed the findings of May, as well as the previous months, that the command of the Ukrainian Defense Forces had chosen the right strategy for conducting defensive actions with the main goal of exhausting the occupation forces. At the same time, it is already obvious that some branches of the Russian troops are already extremely exhausted, in particular the engineering forces.
The demilitarization and denazification of the Russian army is proceeding strictly according to plan.

Ukraine’s strategy is working. While it preserves its forces and equipment as much as possible, it inflicts as much death and destruction on the roach army as possible. In this context, the Kharkiv offensive only made things worse for the cockroaches and the cockroach king.
Sir OFP I hear you, but there is a nagging thought in the back of my mind. If we are so successful, why are the orcs continue to gain ground. Even if it’s slight gain. They’re like the Duracell battery rabbit, just keeps on coming.
I think the front line is fluid Sir Cap, it seems to go back and forth a little. Still, the descendants of Khan are many but not nearly as trained or professional as the Ukrainians are.
We will have victory as the national anthem predicts, “…our enemies will fade away like the morning dew.”
Slava Ukraini~~!!
Thank you Sir Red. I would love to see our heroes making more decisive counter offenses. It’s just a wish
A wish many, many have. I’m tired of chatting with my wife and then suddenly the sirens start wailing again. Then a quick goodbye with the following silence and not knowing if I’ll ever see her again.
That’s just part of the strategy, Sir Cap. The Ukrainian must retreat when the situation requires it. Each yard gained by the roaches is achieved at a high cost. This can go on for only so long before it’s game over.
