Klitschko’s First Deputy Had a “Shashlik” Party with Kyiv City State Administration Officials on the Day of Mourning

In Kyiv, during the Day of Mourning for those killed in the Russian strike on April 24, the first deputy mayor of the capital Vitaliy Klitschko, Mykola Povoroznyk, together with other officials of the Kyiv City State Administration, celebrated his birthday during working hours. Journalists recalled that April 25 was declared a Day of Mourning in Kyiv for the 12 people killed in the Sviatoshynskyi district of the capital as a result of a Russian strike. It was on this day that Kyiv City State Administration officials organized a holiday.

Journalists recalled that many of the event participants were involved in various scandals, including Naumenko, who in 2023 was reported by the Kyiv Prosecutor’s Office on suspicion of embezzling almost 1 million hryvnias on fictitious sidewalk repairs. According to the analytics of the Chesno public movement, Andronov supported the illegal allocation of land and voted 11 times for the so-called “toilet schemes”, and Panteleyev was served with suspicion in 2022 in the case of the private enterprise “Radykal”.

What scandals was Povoroznyk involved in?

Povoroznyk himself has held his current position since 2017. Journalists noted that he coordinates and controls the key department of economy and investment, as well as the district administrations of the capital.

Journalists recalled that in 2020, the birthday boy was involved in a scandal related to suspicion of bribery, but he served as a witness in the case, and after the investigation was completed, he returned to his duties as the first deputy head of the Kyiv City State Administration.

The journalists added that in 2024, NABU searched Porovoznik’s home in a case of possible theft of budget funds during the renovation of a hospital for veterans. Then, after an audit, violations worth hundreds of millions of hryvnias were discovered.

Klitschko dismissed top officials of the Kyiv City State Administration due to a corruption scandal

Earlier, Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko dismissed a number of top officials of the Kyiv City State Administration amid a high-profile investigation into land corruption in the capital. The mayor notes that only deputies can dismiss Kyiv City Council Secretary Volodymyr Bondarenko, because it was they who elected him to the position.

In addition, Kyiv City Council deputy Mykhailo Terentyev, head of the land commission, was dismissed from his position as director of the Engineering Center. Currently, the UDAR party faction has begun the procedure to recall him from the Kyiv City Council, as he is a suspect in criminal proceedings.
