Almost every day new information appears about what is happening in the “second army in the world,” as Russian propagandists still like to claim. The other day, relatives of those mobilized from Bashkortostan (military unit 29601) could not stand it and recorded an appeal to Putin and the military prosecutor’s office, which went viral on social networks.
In addition to complaints that “office workers are being thrown into the assault,” mothers and wives of the occupiers declared “complete lawlessness.”
“Our guys are kept as prisoners of war in basements. They can go out to relieve themselves only at gunpoint (…) Some unknown people also arrive and take the guys in an unknown direction to storm strong points. The mobilized were confiscated from their personal property and documents,” relatives said .
Surviving at the front is still a task, but it is also difficult to wait for promises to be fulfilled. Now the occupiers from the “Storm Z” unit, which consists of convicted criminals who signed a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense, are massively complaining about deception. The main argument for them was the promise to remove the criminal record, but there was a problem with this.
For example, three occupiers who arrived in Moscow stated that this condition was not met. Appeals for help did not bring results: they were told that the status of the former prisoners who served in “Storm Z” was still … not determined.
Storm members are also being scammed with payments. For example, in 2023, a prisoner signed a contract with the Ministry of Defense in the colony and went to Storm Z. After being wounded in Ukraine in February 2024, he was demobilized, but never received any payments.
“No compensation for injuries, no governor’s compensation, nothing. I still can’t even restore my documents at the military registration and enlistment office,” the occupier now laments on social networks.
Now he has run out of all his savings, and neither the Russian Defense Ministry nor officials are going to help him.
Meanwhile, in order to increase the number of contract soldiers, the Russian Army began to actively press for conscripts. When persuasion does not help, bullying is used – even murder.
One of the last high-profile emergency situations occurred in military unit 30866 (stationed in Chernyakhovsk, Kaliningrad region). Sailor Serik served as a senior mechanic in a communications battalion. On May 10, while changing from his daily assignment, the Russian went to the location and along the way “committed suicide, without leaving a suicide note.” This was what was said in the funeral service sent to the mother.
The investigator told the woman that the guy shot himself. However, when she examined her son’s body, she found not one, but three gunshot wounds to the head.
Serik had only a month left before demobilization and he was really looking forward to it, even bought tickets home. At the same time, when he called his mother, he said that both he and his fellow conscripts were being forced to sign a contract. But the sailor refused and his mother considers this the reason for the murder.
Even cripples are sent to the front
The attitude of the Russian command towards those who have already fought and were injured at the front is no better. A very indicative situation occurred with a resident of Yakutia, Maxim Maslov. He was mobilized with a serious pelvic injury he suffered on the job in 2020, and six months into the war he came under fire. The result is a crushed bone and a joint replacement is required.
The occupant has difficulty moving, relying on a cane. For nine months he sought treatment at the main military hospital, but the command threatened Maslov with a criminal case and demanded that he return to the front. In response to the medical documents sent, they only promised not to send them to “perform tasks.”
They abandon not only the wounded, that is, those directly injured in battle, military personnel of the Russian Army, but also those occupiers who “simply” got sick during their service. One of them recently recorded a video in which he lamented that, some time after the concussion, they discovered a cyst in his head; he had practically lost his sight, but they could not perform an operation. Or rather, they don’t want to do it for free.
“We found two clinics in Russia that perform operations, and they are private. The operation costs from 120 thousand in Moscow. I don’t have that kind of money,” the occupier complained. That’s why he’s raising funds now.
The salary of a war criminal is now only enough to eat instant noodles (analogous to our Mivina) and buy the minimum necessary medicines. But the Russian Ministry of Defense, of course, doesn’t give a damn about this – the entire male population of the Russian Federation is simply consumable material for it. As they like to say in Russia, “women are still giving birth.”
