A railway section used for Russian military logistics was blown up overnight in Leningrad region, halting traffic between Pskov and St. Petersburg, according to Kyiv Post on October 21.

Sources within Ukraine’s intelligence told Kyiv Post that the explosion caused significant damage to the tracks and led to a fire involving part of a freight train carrying military cargo. Rail traffic on the route has been completely suspended.

Russian emergency services arrived on site shortly after the blast, while mobile internet coverage in the area was reportedly shut down. The rail line plays a critical role in transporting military equipment and supplies toward western Russia and occupied Ukrainian territories.

The Russian Railways company later confirmed “technical disruptions” on the Pskov–St. Petersburg route, noting that both passenger and freight trains were being rerouted with substantial delays.

Ukrainian intelligence sources told Kyiv Post that the explosion has effectively halted logistics along the line, which could negatively affect resupply operations for Russian forces.

Earlier, on October 7, an explosion on the Stroganovo–Mshinskaya railway segment in Leningrad region derailed a train carrying military cargo, temporarily halting traffic on the Pskov–St. Petersburg route.

    • I think that train wreck on the rail line into Crimea is still blocked. How long ago was that? One month? Two months?

      • It was quite a while since. I doubt using Russian roads for logistics will help, especially now mud season is here.

        • I heard that the Ukrainians have drones there, endangering the crews and their equipment, thus, preventing the wreckage to be cleared. I’m not sure if this is true.

          • Mafia land can’t protect everywhere. They don’t have the air defences. Did you see the earlier post about the state of the art radar used to detect drones that was destroyed by a drone? 😂
