Key contradiction remains unsolved

Re: Ukraine … This is from one of Z-channels:

The cornerstone of the entire situation surrounding possible negotiations is the demand for a preliminary 30-day ceasefire.

Why are Ukraine and its EU allies so insistent on this condition?

If negotiations take place during active hostilities, Russia will maintain its pressure on the frontlines, thus retaining the advantage of initiative during the talks. Ukraine has already experienced negotiations “with a gun to its head” during the signing of Minsk-2 and the discussions in Istanbul, and it does not want to repeat that experience.

However, if the fighting is stopped and the front is frozen for an extended period, this would allow Ukraine to withstand Russian military pressure even before any negotiations begin, stabilize the frontline situation, and prepare for a possible escalation — effectively depriving Russia of all its leverage.

That is precisely why this proposal does not suit Russia — it essentially means relinquishing the initiative. Moreover, in 30 days the front could stabilize to such an extent that Ukraine might no longer see any need for negotiations at all. Talks are only needed now while the situation is pressing. But once the pressure subsides and there is a chance to repel attacks by military force, diplomacy will be flushed down the toilet again, just like it was in Istanbul.

As long as this key contradiction remains unresolved, the likelihood of a productive diplomatic meeting between the two countries approaches zero.

I agree with most of it. And they say themselves that Putin doesn’t want ceasefire.

Pope Leo XIV condemned Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

The Pontiff called the invasion “imperialist in nature, during which Russia seeks to conquer territories in order to strengthen its power.”

Unlike his predecessor Francis, who tried to “reconcile two peoples,” the new Pope immediately took a clear position.

  1. Krasnov’s post on lies social yet again reveals where his sympathies lie.
Such appallingly ignorant drivel coming from the president of one of the world’s great countries!

    • Trump is a lover of bloody dictators, and nothing will ever change that. He is also a full-blown idiot who never fails to say something stupid.
