Le Grand Continent, a respected European journal of geopolitical analysis published by the Groupe d’études géopolitiques, a think tank affiliated with the École Normale Supérieure in Paris, published yesterday a deeply disturbing conversation with Sergei Karaganov, one of the kremlin’s most influential ideologues and a longtime advisor to Vladimir Putin.
With calculated coldness, he outlines the logic behind russia’s long war strategy and nuclear doctrine.
In this blood chilling interview, with a tone that is not only cynical, but openly hateful toward the Westerns democracies, Karaganov lays out the intellectual framework that supports Russia’s war against Ukraine and its broader confrontation with the West.

And it echoes in some ways the text published recently by the US Department of State on its Substratct account https://lnkd.in/eDQbJzA4, calling for the construction of a “civilizational alliance”, explicitly addressed to the Rassemblement National in France, the AfD in Germany, and PiS in Poland, and the transformation of the European Union into an aggregate of “Christian nations like Hungary.”
Here are the main elements:
🎯 Strategic Goal: Karaganov argues that russia must push for the collapse of the West, claiming it is the only path to a decisive strategic victory.
🕰️ Prolonged War in Ukraine: He anticipates the war could continue for another 1–3 years, inflicting massive human losses on Ukraine until the West backs down.
☢️ Nuclear Posture: He advocates lowering the threshold for nuclear use, making deterrence more credible through ambiguity and escalation threats.
🔥 Controlled Escalation: He suggests that russia should consider preemptive strikes on countries arming Ukraine, including potentially nuclear threats.
🌐 Eurasian Doctrine: He promotes the creation of a non-Western global order, centered on russia and aligned with the BRICS+, the Global South, and China.

Thank you for sharing! Indeed a very disturbing conversation with Sergei Karaganov. The Kremlin fights not only Ukraine but also the West! We in free Europe have to wake up, if we didn’t already! We have to defend our precious democracies against the threatening tyranny of Putin and his clique. And within our democracies we have to stand up against populism that is sponsored by Putin to undermine our political system!
Wretchedly, all of what this nazi piece of shit dreams of is actually achievable.
Can Merz reverse the terrible damage done by Merkel, Schroder and Scholz and use Germany’s economic power to make Germany once again a major military power, but this time for good instead of evil?
A lot depends on it, because Poland; always a bit wobbly with Ukraine, is now becoming a problem.
The CRINK’s/BRICS are aligned with numerous other criminal dictatorships.
We reached the 21st century and still the majority of the world’s population live in putlerist shitholes.
But we now have the abomination of Kremlin West, which is hostile to Ukraine and is even edging towards a formal alignment with putlerstan and China.
Karaganov is a dream chaser like every other cockroach in the kremlin. This shithole has an economy the size of Italy. In no way can it continue this war for as long as he wants. The effects of the low oil price are starting to set in. In due time, it will bring a harsh economic reality to the crapper, the same one that the Soviet Union had to face, which made it shrivel up and disappear from history.
