Ambassador Julie S. Davis will serve as the acting U.S. Chargé d’Affaires ai to Ukraine. She will begin her duties on Monday, May 5, 2025.

This is stated in a message on the website of the US Embassy in Kyiv . It is noted that in this position, Davis will lead the diplomatic institution’s interaction with the Ukrainian government and people on behalf of US President Trump and Secretary of State Rubio.
Davis will serve in this position until the US president appoints an ambassador to Ukraine.
US State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce, commenting on the appointment, said that Davis is a distinguished career member of the Senior Foreign Service, holding the rank of Minister Counselor.
“With a wealth of experience in international diplomacy, she has held key positions over the past 30 years. Ambassador Davis is currently the United States Ambassador to Cyprus, a position she will hold since February 2023. The Department is currently in need of the best talent, and Ambassador Davis is the choice of the President and the Secretary,” she added.
Who is Julie Davis?
Julie S. Davis is the current U.S. Ambassador to Cyprus. In 2020, she was confirmed as the U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Belarus, the first since 2008.
During her political career, Davis also served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Western European and European Union Affairs and Deputy Permanent Representative of the United States Mission to NATO.
Davis’ other career achievements include serving at NATO’s International Headquarters as Deputy Director of the Private Office and at U.S. embassies in Georgia, Ukraine, and Russia, as well as serving on the National Security Council, the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs, and the Office of the Executive Secretary of the U.S. Secretary of State.
Julie Davis holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a master’s degree from Princeton University’s School of International and Public Affairs. She is fluent in Russian and French.
