Ukrainian journalist Dmytro Gordon confronted US special envoy Steve Witkoff in Kyiv on Sept. 6, asking whether Russian President Vladimir Putin was deceiving US President Donald Trump and accusing Witkoff of sitting down with a “war criminal.”

Gordon posed the question during a press briefing following talks between Ukrainian officials and Trump’s envoys, which included Witkoff and Jared Kushner.

“You have met with President Putin very often. Does it seem to you that Putin has been deceiving you all this time?” Gordon asked.

“And finally, don’t you find it disgusting to sit at the same table with an international war criminal, the executioner of the Ukrainian people, who is personally responsible for the tragedy in Ukraine?” he added.

Witkoff, who has met Putin repeatedly during US efforts to broker an end to Russia’s war against Ukraine, defended maintaining direct contact with Moscow.

“Relationships are very important in resolving a conflict like this,” Witkoff said, arguing that poor communication with either side would make a peaceful settlement less likely.

According to Witkoff, he has traveled to Moscow about eight times and met with Putin and members of his team.

“We have always received respect from President Putin,” he said.

Witkoff said the US delegation’s meetings with Putin were intended to help Washington better understand Moscow’s position and inform discussions with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

“Both sides have to come to a resolution, and Jared and I are working to bring the two sides together, narrow the gap between them and improve the channels of communication,” Witkoff said.

“Hopefully, we will begin this process constructively. I think we will come to a good resolution of this issue,” he added.

US diplomacy intensifies

US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner traveled from Moscow to Kyiv over the weekend for talks with Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky.

The envoys met Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Saturday, Sept. 5, before traveling to Kyiv to meet President Volodymyr Zelensky on Sunday.

Witkoff described the discussions as constructive and said the US had heard “new ideas” from Moscow, while Kushner referred to a broader “peace package.”

Zelensky called his talks with the US envoys “very substantial” and said Ukraine was ready to move toward trilateral negotiations involving Kyiv, Washington, and Moscow.

National security advisers from Britain, France, and Germany also joined part of the Kyiv discussions.

  1. Witless maintains his position. He doesn’t find anything wrong with sucking a war criminal’s cock, even in front of the entire planet, and lathering his ego with sick, slimy words that make even elephants throw up.
We need more journalists like Dmitry Gordon, who have the spine and integrity to ask tough questions.
