The no-fly zone (NFZ) should extend to the perimeter around the Ukrainian borders, which would take care of the glide bombs, and other large devices launched from ruZZia or from above ruZZia.
Western surveillance and defence have capabilities extending hundreds of miles outside the directly protected zone and must be fully utilized.
The NFZ would also allow fairly safe operations of the Ukrainian Air Force against ruZZian occupiers in the East, including in Crimea. It would be like shooting fish in a barrel. I don’t expect the ruZZians to be able to handle it.
The Ukrainians already deal with small drones but that must be considerably enhanced. More Patriots are also needed to counter ballistic missiles.
Of course any ruZZian missiles, aircraft or drones violating NATO territory must be shot down.
Effective sanctions against ruZZia & its partners are a must. The current sanctions have too many loopholes.
If the above isn’t sufficient further aid from Europe might be required. ANY aid to Ukraine would be DEFENSIVE. The ruZZians are the aggressors, they don’t intend to stop on Ukraine & they are most likely to escalate when Trump is still in the White House. That could be ahead of much of the current NATO reinforcement plans.
No fly zones (NFZs) are enforced with military power. That is the only thing that matters. Sometimes some ‘legal’ justifications are ‘provided’ on a side but on occasions those might or might not have been questionable. The UN has no big guns & no business in enforcing, allowing, vetoing or justifying NFZs. To the anti-NFZ trolls :
Why don’t you suggest vetoing ruZZia’s aggression? Putin or Hitler were never concerned about vetoes, demonstrators or Sunday ‘politicians’. ruZZia was one of GUARANTORS of Ukraine’s safety & territorial integrity in the Budapest Memorandum.
President Zelenskyy has been asking for a NFZ forever, so has General Ben Hodges, former Commander of the U.S. (not the U.N., even though abbreviations might be deceiving to some) Army Europe. But neither did that at the UN, because that would have been N0ΝSΣΝSΣ.
According to AI “Iran has a surface area of 1,648,195 sq km (636,372 sq mi) while Ukraine has a surface area of 603,628 sq km (233,062 sq mi). Therefore, Iran is significantly larger than Ukraine in terms of landmass (by the factor of 2.73).”
And yet a tiny Country Israel (perhaps? with limited US support) has been able to: – pacify Iranian Airspace, – effectively enforce a no-fly zone above Iran while rendering a considerable Iranian Air Force toothless, – create favorable conditions to fairly safe operations of Israeli Air Force above and around Iran.
Some kind of such operation had been expected for a long time! Why isn’t Europe/NATO doing the same above Ukraine? Europe’s survival may well depend on it!
With a suitable notice & 100% DEFENSIVE stealth fighter enforcement Putin would be toothless! Moreover, ruZZia likely wouldn’t have retaliated, given the power and effectiveness of the Ukrainian Air Force that would have ‘’fish in a barrel shooting” conditions.
The war would likely have been over in a day & ON UKRAINIAN TERMS (including if President Trump had finally but optionally come to right senses).
The argument against the NFZ was :
“We would have to fly into Russia to knock out their air defence systems, thus triggering WW3.”
Bullshit but there it is.
The Ukrainians will do that stuff. What is needed now is a NFZ for all Ukraine. Crimea is Ukraine, despite the bullshit of the putler murder gang.
Therefore every putinaZi aircraft parked on Ukrainian land can and must be destroyed.
putinaZi aircraft are free to fly unhindered (at least from non-Ukrainian aircraft) as before, in their own shithole.
It’s more than high time for a NFZ over Ukraine. But, you can forget it with the collection of jellyfish, appeasers, and colluders of evil across the West.
