According to Trump, Russia wants to end the war in Ukraine.

US President Donald Trump said the three-day “truce” with Ukraine, announced by Russian dictator Vladimir Putin to hold a military parade on May 9, is a step forward towards achieving peace. The American leader made the statement during a meeting with the press at the White House.

“President Putin just announced a three-day ceasefire, which doesn’t sound like much, but it’s a lot when you know where we started. We had a president who didn’t talk to Putin for three years, and all of this should never have happened. This is a war that should never have happened, and you’re going to be very disappointed to find out that the real death toll is much higher, many times higher, I believe, but much higher than the numbers that you’re publishing. This is a very, very deadly, terrible war… I think Russia, with the current oil prices and the decline… I think we’re in a good position to resolve this conflict. They want to resolve it. Ukraine wants to resolve it too,” Trump said.

The US president also added that he could say who organized the explosions at the Nord Stream gas pipeline. However, he refused to name the culprit in a conversation with the press.

“I could ask certain people and tell them who blew up Nord Stream. A lot of people know who blew it up,” the US president said.
