The Minister of Strategic Industries spoke about whether we should expect an increase in Ukrainian weapons at the front.

Minister of Strategic Industries Alexander Kamyshin briefly described the situation in the Ukrainian defense industry, stating that our country has the capabilities to develop weapons, but no funds. However, this does not prevent the creation of something new, for example, the drone missile “Palyanytsya” . 

Kamyshin spoke about this and other possibilities to British and Iranian CNN television presenter Christiane Amanpour.

“It is a shame to have the ability to produce weapons but not have the means to do so,” the Minister said.

In Kyiv, they discussed, among other things, how new Ukrainian weapons could become the key to victory over Russia.

Right now, Ukraine is doing what Zelensky said, to make sure that the war returns to where it started. This is being done mainly using domestic weapons, since, according to Kamyshin, Western partners are often unhappy when their weapons are used on Russian territory.

Domestic developers, as the minister notes, have everything to produce drones with a flight range of up to 1,500 km, except for money. Due to a lack of funding, in 2024, half as many drones were produced as could have been, based on the capacity of the defense industry. But to achieve the result, according to him, enterprises work around the clock, in protected shelters.

Next year, according to Kamyshin, the situation will change significantly due to a lack of financial resources. According to his estimates, the gap between how much Ukraine “can” produce and how much it actually “will” produce will increase threefold.

“The development of the Ukrainian defense industry has reached a point where providing funds for domestic weapons production is more important than Western weapons supplies,” he added.

Missile-drone “Palyanytsya”

On August 25, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the first successful use of a new domestic weapon  – the Palyanitsya drone missile, which was used against the enemy in the temporarily occupied territory.

The development of this type of drone lasted for a year and a half. There are as many as 20 Russian military airfields within the range of the drone missile.
