BILD suggests that the current goal of Ukrainian forces in the Kursk region is to capture Korenevo.
One of the key tasks of the Ukrainian Defense Forces in the Kursk region at the moment is probably the capture of the village of Korenevo.
This opinion was expressed by military expert of the German publication BILD, Julian Repke, citing data from open sources.
According to the OSINT resource DeepState, military actions are already taking place directly in Korenevo. It is located approximately 25 km from the Ukrainian border. Judging by the footage from the scene, the Ukrainians are advancing on the settlement from the south and east. Very active battles are taking place there.
In parallel, Ukrainian forces are advancing east from Sudzha towards the village of Giri.
“If Ukraine succeeds in taking these settlements, it will be a terrible failure for Vladimir Putin,” writes Repke.
The BILD expert stated that Sudzha is under the full control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. This is the first Russian city that the Ukrainians managed to capture during the current war, which is a great achievement.
The Russians are trying to recapture Sudzha, but to no avail. The Russian Armed Forces have not managed to get closer to the city than 6 km. Overall, according to the Kursk region governor, Ukrainian forces control 28 settlements in the Kursk region. DeepState believes that this number is greatly underestimated, and the real number is 44.
Earlier, Z-channels acknowledged the expansion of the Ukrainian Armed Forces control zone near Kursk by 1050 sq. km.
We also wrote that the Russian Armed Forces have brought their main forces to a counterattack near Sudzha. In the near future, we should expect an intensification of military actions.

Well, too bad this expert doesn’t mention why the AFU should take those two villages. Neither one has a major highway or even an intersection there, nor are there any railroads. Not sure if there’s anything else worth getting.
This Koronevo has the only road that connects the E38 at Rylsk with Sudzha. Maybe capturing that village will stop the orcs from sending reinforcements from Kursk to Rylsk. Although it didn’t work out too well the last time they tried it. Over 500 dead orcs in the last convoy.
