The President of Ukraine notes that his American counterpart made a promise, but it is not clear when he will fulfill it.
In August, the US president gave the Russian dictator “2-3 weeks” to make progress in peace talks with Ukraine. Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky intends to soon ask Donald Trump exactly when those 2-3 weeks will expire. Zelensky said this today during a press conference in Denmark.
The President of Ukraine noted that he conveyed to Trump that, through pressure from the United States, he could force Putin to switch to a diplomatic format, “so that the dialogue is not conducted with weapons.”
“If Putin does not do this, then, if possible, apply tariffs and sanctions against him so that he does go to this diplomatic dialogue. And if there is no meeting (of leaders), then support in the form of aid and sanctions. We have conveyed these signals to the President of the United States,” the Ukrainian president noted.
Zelensky emphasized that Trump said a few weeks ago that he would give some kind of answer in “a few weeks.”
“A few weeks – it could be 2 or 3 weeks. We will talk to the US president today or the next day and clarify this issue,” Zelensky said.
