The Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to repel enemy attacks in the Donetsk region and improve their tactical position. Geolocated videos published on January 10 confirm the advance of Ukrainian troops on the southern outskirts of Kostyantynivka.
Russian troops also likely lost positions east of Kostyantynivka and in the eastern part of the city, according to an analysis by the Institute for the Study of War.
Battles for Kostyantynivka
According to ISW, geolocation videos published on January 9 and 10 show units of the 1442nd Motorized Rifle Regiment of the Russian Armed Forces striking Ukrainian positions northwest of Stupochki (east of Kostyantynivka) and in the eastern part of Kostyantynivka, and units of the 103rd Motorized Rifle Regiment striking Ukrainian troops northwest of Pleshchiivka. Previously, these areas, according to Russian sources, were under the control of Putin’s army.
In turn, the Russians claimed to have captured Vyrolyubivka (north of Kostyantynivka), but one military blogger later stated that Russian troops failed to gain a foothold in the settlement and Ukrainian troops recaptured their positions.
Russian propagandists claimed that Russian troops had advanced into Novodmytrivka (north of Kostyantynivka), while another military blogger claimed that Ukrainian troops retained control of Novodmytrivka and Predtechyn (east of Kostyantynivka).
Over the past day, Russian forces have attacked near and inside Kostyantynivka itself; north of Kostyantynivka near Vyrolyubivka; northeast of Kostyantynivka in the area of Mynkivka, Novomarkovo, Mykolaivka, and Travneve; east of Kostyantynivka near Stupochky; southeast of Kostyantynivka near Oleksandro-Shultynye; south of Kostyantynivka in the area of Pleshchiivka, Kleban-Byka, and Ivano-Pol; southwest of Kostyantynivka in the area of Yablunivka; south of Druzhkivka in the area of Rusynyi Yar; and southwest of Druzhkivka in the area of Sofiivka and towards Torske.
The enemy is intensifying attacks in Donbas
A representative of the Ukrainian brigade operating in the Kramatorsk direction reported on January 10 that Russian troops are increasing the intensity of their attacks in conditions of deteriorating weather, which complicates the work of Ukrainian drones. Most often, the occupiers attack in groups of up to five servicemen at dusk and at night.
The representative of the Armed Forces of Ukraine also noted that Russian troops camouflage their artillery well , which makes it difficult for Ukrainian troops to identify the type of artillery they struck during counter-battery fire.
Recall, in early January it became known that the Russian occupiers were able to break through to the southeastern part of Konstantinovka. Fortunately, only a few advanced assault groups of the enemy were seen in the city . The invaders were trying to gain a foothold on the outskirts of Konstantinovka; if they succeed, the city is most likely doomed.
OBOZ.UA previously reported that in Kostyantynivka, Donetsk region, an elderly woman was buried in a yard hit by a Russian aircraft munition. According to the military, the shell fell into the yard a few minutes after the positions of Ukrainian fighters were covered by MLRS.
