Crimea will never return to Ukraine. I was aware of that already back in 2014. When i said so on the original Ukraine Today site run by Kolomoisky, i was called an asshole. But ruSSia will not back downe on it. Better to focus on Zaporizhia not to fall completely. There’s too many lifelines in the area vital to Ukraine.
In Zel’s shoes I would have absolutely given up Crimea in 2021 or even early 2022, if it would stop the war, but putler wanted everything.
As soon as the horror of Bucha emerged, I concluded that no negotiations ever will be possible with a genocidal nazi power and that is still my position now.
However, I always caveat that by saying that if the majority of Ukrainians decide they want to give land to putler in return for peace, then I will back them 100%.
I don’t see any signs of that at the moment, but Zel’s decision to state publicly that Crimea can only be resolved diplomatically is a disaster of monumental proportions. It has badly weakened his position.
You don’t show your hand to monsters, but now that he has, I fear that it will be a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Whatever Trump pitches to Ukraine now will be very good for putler and very bad for Ukraine.
To believe that Ukraine could defeat ruSSia was a lunatic miscalculation from the very beginning. Peskov insisted on Zel giving up Crimea days before ruSSia unleashed the horror, but Zel refused. One can do this being 100% convinced of Nato support, but that was never the case. He went All In with a shitty hand and consequently lost.
