On the morning of January 29, rumors began to spread online that Russia and Ukraine had allegedly agreed to an energy truce starting at 7:00 a.m. today. It is noteworthy that this information initially appeared on Russian propaganda resources.
Later, Ukrainian monitoring channels warned that the parties had not yet reached an agreement on such a ceasefire. OBOZ.UA found out what was known about this as of January 29.
Rumors of a truce
Propaganda Telegram channels have reported a possible halt to Russian strikes on the Ukrainian energy system starting at 7:00 a.m. The Russians claim that strikes have been banned from hitting Kyiv and the Kyiv region, as well as any infrastructure facilities throughout Ukraine.
At the same time, Russians online were outraged by the appearance of such rumors and called on Putin’s army to continue bombing Ukrainian cities. Russian public forums also write that agreements on an energy truce were allegedly reached at talks in Abu Dhabi. At the same time, the Russian Federation notes that such a ceasefire will be temporary, and on a certain date, attacks on the energy sector will resume.
Reaction of monitoring channels
The Ukrainian Telegram channel “Nikolayevsky Vanyok” actually confirmed that there was talk of an energy truce between the parties. However, he warned that there is currently no final decision on ending the energy strikes between Russia and Ukraine.
“Nikolaevsky Vanek” is also sure that the Russian occupiers will not stop shelling, and even if they were given a certain ban now, sooner or later the enemy will strike again.
There have been no official comments from the Ukrainian or Russian authorities regarding the energy truce so far.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov did not comment on reports of an allegedly reached energy truce with Ukraine or negotiations about it.
As a reminder, on the night of January 29, the Russian occupation army again shelled Odessa. The enemy used strike drones to terrorize the peaceful city. As a result of the enemy attack, an infrastructure facility in Odessa was damaged.
As OBOZ.UA reported, during the day on January 28, the Russian occupation army shelled the Dnipropetrovsk region. Putin’s troops used drones and multiple rocket launchers to terrorize the civilian population. Two men were injured as a result of the shelling.
This is another opportunity, maybe. Trump asks putin to stop bombing Kyiv for a week and reportedly putin said yes. Now, of course, we see the opposite and possibly another opportunity for Trump to realize he’s being played like a violin.
