Updated at 20:25: Lviv regional police are conducting a special operation to detain the attacker who shot at a public figure. They confirmed that it happened on Masaryk Street. The report notes that they were informed about the attack on a 60-year-old passerby at 19:30.
“She was hospitalized with a gunshot wound to the head. A special police operation is being conducted in Lviv and the region, in which officers from all services and divisions of the Lviv region police are involved,” law enforcement officials added
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky responded to the assassination attempt on Iryna Farion , stressing that everyone responsible for this attack must bear full responsibility.
He noted that the Minister of Internal Affairs Igor Klimenko and the head of the Security Service of Ukraine Vasyl Malyuk promptly report on the search for the attacker on Farion.
“All necessary forces of the National Police of Ukraine and the SBU are involved in establishing the circumstances of this crime. Doctors are fighting for Iryna Farion’s life. It is obvious that any violence deserves only condemnation and everyone guilty of this attack must bear full responsibility,” Zelensky emphasized on Telegram .
