IRIS-T air defense systems and Patriot missiles: Pistorius announced a new aid package for Ukraine

The package includes 4 IRIS-T air defense systems and 30 Patriot missiles.

Germany has prepared a new aid package for Ukraine , which will include, in particular, IRIS-T air defense systems and Patriot air defense missiles, as well as much more. The new aid package was announced by German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius at a meeting in the

Rammstein, reports The Guardian .

He stated that the package will include, in particular: four IRIS-T ground defense systems and 30 missiles for Patriot air defense systems.

Pistorius also said the leaders would “discuss” Ukraine’s request to produce missiles under license locally.

According to n-tv , the package will also include:

  • 300 missiles for the IRIS-T air defense system;
  • 300 reconnaissance UAVs;
  • 120 MANPADS;
  • 25 Marder 1A3 infantry fighting vehicles;
  • 15 Leopard 1A5 tanks;
  • 14 artillery systems;
  • 100 ground-based radars;
  • 130 thousand artillery shells.

Help for Ukraine

Today, a meeting of defense ministers – “Ramstein” with the participation of 50 countries will take place in Brussels.  The meeting  will be chaired by the defense ministers of Great Britain and Germany, John Healy and Boris Pistorius, after the US withdrew from this format.

The United Kingdom, together with Norway, has already announced at the meeting the allocation of a new package of military aid to Ukraine in the amount of 450 million pounds (about $585 million).

This money will go towards the production of hundreds of thousands of drones, anti-tank mines and radar systems, and 160 million will be allocated for the repair and maintenance of equipment that Britain previously supplied to Ukraine.
