The Iranian Foreign Ministry has accused Ukraine of attacking an Iranian merchant ship in the Caspian Sea.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry noted that as a result of the attack, an explosion occurred on board the vessel, killing one sailor and injuring another.

Tehran stressed that this is a violation of the UN Charter and called the incident an “act of aggression” that could further “ignite and spread the flames of war.”

Iran also stated that it “reserves the right to defend its national interests and security.”
