Scholz added that almost two thousand German companies remain active in Ukraine.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that his country will assist Ukraine on its path to joining the European Union. He also called on other countries to help develop the Ukrainian economy, calling it an investment in a future EU member.
As RBC-Ukraine writes , he made such a statement at the sixth German-Ukrainian Economic Forum. Scholz emphasized that Ukraine was able to ensure the functioning of its economy, despite the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation. The forecasts regarding the economic growth of our country are also encouraging.
Scholz added that almost two thousand German companies remain active in Ukraine. In addition, the chancellor called for employment and better integration of Ukrainians who were forced to leave the country due to the war unleashed by Russia.
“Whoever invests in Ukraine now invests in a future EU member,” Scholz emphasized.
He also assured that Germany will accompany Ukraine on the path of reform to membership in the European Union. In addition, he announced that Berlin is preparing a new aid package for Kyiv worth about 1.4 billion euros, which will include, in particular, air defense systems. According to the German Chancellor, since the beginning of the full-scale war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, the total volume of civil and military assistance from his country has already reached 24 billion euros.
At the same time, Scholz said that against the backdrop of the Russian Federation’s likely intentions to attack energy infrastructure facilities in Ukraine, as was the case last year, the main task of the current package from Germany is to create a “protective shield.” In this regard, he said that last week Germany approved a support package for the Ukrainian energy system worth 80 million euros.
