In Russia, they say that they are carrying out a “planned withdrawal of troops” from the Chernihiv region, but the commander of the “North” operational command, Hero of Ukraine Viktor Nikolyuk, stressed that it is the Armed Forces of Ukraine that are forcing the invaders to retreat.

The major general spoke about this in an interview with Suspilny.

The Russians are forced to retreat, as the APU struck their positions. In addition, the invaders are demoralized.

Despite the withdrawal, the fighting continues. At the same time, Ukrainian defenders give a powerful rebuff.

“The Russians are forced to withdraw their troops from Chernigov, because we inflicted fire damage on them. Now the moral and psychological state, the state of equipment, the provision of material and technical means and ammunition, of course, forces them to withdraw troops. There is such a fact, they are withdrawing troops, we inflict fire damage – we drive the enemy out of our territory,” Nikolyuk said.

He also added that the invaders partially blocked the southern direction of Chernihiv. The Ukrainian Armed Forces are working to unblock the city, but Nikolyuk declined to predict when that would happen.

The Ukrainian military is carrying out measures to restore infrastructure in the liberated territories – they restore electricity and water supply and clear the territory.

The defense forces have already liberated a number of settlements. Nikolyuk promised that Mikhailo-Kotsyubinskoye would be released soon. The fight continues.
