Instead of AFU, official Budapest will finance Lebanese army with EU money – Hungarian Foreign Ministry

Hungary plans to direct its share of the “European Peace Fund” to finance the Lebanese army, and not for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

This statement was made by Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto on X.

He noted that he told Lebanese Foreign Minister Youssef Raggi that Hungary’s national security interest is peace in the Middle East, and the stability of Lebanon plays a key role in this.

“We will not use our share of the European Peace Fund to arm Ukraine. Instead, we are redirecting EUR 1.5 million to support the Lebanese armed forces,” Szijjarto said.
