Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has assured US President Donald Trump that his country will no longer purchase Russian oil.

Quote: “He assured me today that they will not be buying oil from Russia. That’s a big step. Now we’re got to get China to do the same thing.”
Details: Trump added that the suspension of purchases would not happen immediately, but the process would be completed soon.
He also said that India’s purchase of Russian oil “lets Russia continue on with this ridiculous war where they’ve lost 1.5 million people”.
Background: The US Treasury Department has called on its allies in the G7 and the European Union to impose “meaningful tariffs” on goods from China and India to stop them from buying Russian oil.

There are rumours that the US are going to lift sanctions on Iranian oil. So maybe the plan is to let Iran sell oil to India.
