In the Volgograd region, eight carriages of the Kazan-Adler passenger train derailed after a collision with a truck. This was reported by Russian Railways.

Today at 12:35 on the Gremyachaya-Kotelnikovo section in the Volgograd Region, the driver of a KAMAZ truck drove onto a railroad crossing and collided with a passing passenger train No. 491 Kazan-Adler. As a result, eight carriages of the passenger train derailed.

Russian Railways noted that the driver drove onto the tracks “with the signaling system functioning properly in front of a closely approaching train.” Mash claims that, according to preliminary data, he did not notice the train because of the trees.

The Volgograd Region administration reported that 20 train passengers were hospitalized, while the Kotelnichesky District Central Hospital stated that 30 were hospitalized — 15 adults and 15 children. According to  Russian Railways, 140 people received abrasions and bruises.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs also reported that the truck driver was hospitalized.

Train traffic on the section has been suspended. The Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that more than 320 people and 100 units of equipment are involved in eliminating the consequences of the accident.

In total, there were about 800 people on the train .

The Bereg publication spoke with one of the train passengers, 38-year-old Andrey. Here’s what he said

We were traveling from Syzran to Lazarevskoye in the 12th carriage with our family: me, my wife and two children.

We were just lying there, resting, and then we saw the tea fly off the table – so suddenly! Of course, we were scared. Then there was another jolt. My daughter was sleeping on the top bunk – she didn’t fall, and our [at the tail of the train] jolt wasn’t as strong.

The train stopped and we saw that there was an accident right in front of our car, we saw the wrecked cabin [of the KAMAZ]. The 12th, 11th, 10th and head cars did not tilt, they stood still, but almost all the others in front of us fell, almost the entire train up to the 10th car derailed. The front of the head car was practically demolished by the KAMAZ. Apparently, the driver fell asleep – that’s what they say around – and drove through the signal.

We had no problems getting out. They simply opened the doors for us and we got out normally. We got out and saw the cars on their sides, a torn-up KAMAZ: on one side was the booth [the driver’s cabin], and on the other was sand [which the truck was carrying].

Many people came to help us: the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the ambulance, and the firefighters. Local people brought us water and food, medicine. Everyone responded quite quickly.

I saw people getting out from under the cars. The injuries varied: some got out and drove away in a car, some were taken away in an ambulance. One woman was in the toilet [at the time of the accident], her leg was trapped, they had to amputate it. I personally did not have to free others, but many people rushed to help people get out – so many people came here that everyone was pulled out very quickly.

Of course, there are a lot of children here, they are all going south. But I don’t know anything about their condition – it seems that they are all more or less [safe].

Now they tell us that whole carriages will be reconnected and we will go further. We, like many here, still want to get to the final destination.

  1. “Mash claims that, according to preliminary data, he did not notice the train because of the trees.”

They must be invisible trees, because in the various videos at the crash site, no trees are anywhere close. Of course automatic gates at the crossing have yet to reach mafia land.

  2. Automatic Gates??????????????

You bourgeois class traitor. How dare you suggest such luxuries. Soviet peoples have no need of such luxuries as safety or Toilets.

    • I just watched a video on Youtube. They said it was an unregulated crossing with no barriers, but it did have a traffic light. 😂

  3. “Apparently, the driver fell asleep”

If there are no trees, how could the driver have been sawing wood? 🙂

[“sawing wood” is a slang term meaning “to snore loudly while sleeping”]
