The court also took into account that the occupier had already killed Ukrainians in Ukraine.

In the Russian Angarsk (Irkutsk region), an ex-mercenary of the private military company Wagner, who killed  a native of Ukraine over a dispute about the war, was sentenced to six years in a maximum security colony.

Sibir.Realii writes about this  with reference to the court decision. It is reported that that day the occupier Alexander Novikov was drinking with his Ukrainian acquaintance. At some point, he hit him in the face, and then took a knife and stabbed the man lying on the sofa in the neck.

The former “Wagnerite” told the court that the Ukrainian used obscene language at those present and insulted the Russian army servicemen. Immediately after the murder, Novikov told the owner of the apartment that the murdered man “insulted his participation in the SVO” and accused him of killing Ukrainians.

The Russian court commuted the occupier’s sentence due to the “illegal behavior of the victim”, admission of guilt, participation in the war against Ukraine and the presence of the medal “For Courage”. Novikva was given a minimum sentence for murder.
