During yesterday’s missile strike, which the Russian Federation inflicted on the port in Odesa region , a container ship with sunflower oil was damaged.

According to the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Vitaliy Koval, this was humanitarian aid for Palestine ordered by the UN. Koval wrote about this in his Telegram channel.

“On the night of October 10, the terrorist state once again hit the ports with a ballistic missile. 8 people died, 11 were injured. A container ship carrying 45 containers of packaged sunflower oil also came under fire.

This shipment was a humanitarian cargo ordered by the UN for supplies to Palestine,” the minister emphasized.

He emphasized that Ukraine, despite the war, supplies products for 400 million people in the world, and needs to strengthen the protection of the sky.

According to Oleksiy Kuleba, the Deputy Prime Minister for the Reconstruction of Ukraine – the Minister of Community and Territorial Development, the goal of the Russian Federation’s attacks on the port infrastructure of the South is to reduce exports. He stated:

“This is about deliberately provoking a food crisis in those parts of the world that directly depend on the supply of Ukrainian grain. The targets of enemy shelling are primarily ports, civilian ships and grain warehouses.”

According to his data, over the past three months there were almost 60 such attacks, as a result of which approximately 300 port infrastructure objects, 177 vehicles and 22 civilian ships were damaged.

“79 civilians were injured. Among them are employees of ports, logistics companies and ship crews,” Kuleba said.

According to him, the consequences of attacks on ports will primarily affect the countries of the Global South and Europe. Currently, more than 40 countries receive Ukrainian grain – Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, China, Vietnam, Indonesia, Spain, Turkey, the Netherlands, etc.

The Odesa Regional Military Administration announced that due to the death of people during the construction of the port infrastructure, mourning was declared in the region on October 11.
