In January-May 2021, in the part of the Donetsk region controlled by the Ukrainian government, the average level of wages increased by 19.5%, and real wages (taking into account inflation and taxes paid) increased by 9.4% compared to the same period last year. This was reported on the website of the Main Department of Statistics in the Donetsk region.

In the region (excluding part of the temporarily occupied territory), the average monthly nominal wage of one full-time employee of enterprises, institutions and organizations (employing 10 or more people) for the period from January to May of this year is UAH 14,253.

“In May 2021, the average salary was UAH 14,457, which is 4.1% more compared to the previous month, and 22.0% more than in May 2020. Real wages in May compared to April 2021 increased by 2.9%, compared to May 2020 – by 9.8%, ”the message says.

At the same time, the wage arrears as of June 1, 2021 in the region (excluding part of the temporarily occupied territory) amounted to UAH 683.3 million. During May 2021, the amount of wage arrears decreased by UAH 144.7 million, or by 17.5%, compared to January 1, 2021 – it increased by UAH 35.9 million, or by 5.5%. The unpaid wages are equivalent to 13.5% of the payroll accrued in May.
