On the night of April 19, explosions were heard in Taganrog, Russia, in the Rostov region
: the region was under missile attack. After the explosions, residents of the city saw smoke and fire in the area of the Taganrog Automobile Plant.
They are producing drones for the occupation army there. The missile attack and its consequences were reported on the Exilenova+ Telegram channel.
What is known
Exilenova+ wrote about the missile strike on Taganrog at 04:45.

Within five minutes, they clarified: a column of smoke was rising over the city after the attack.

Footage of the source of the smoke also appeared quite quickly.

“Large-scale fire at a facility in Taganrog after a missile strike,” the vivid footage was captioned by Exilenova+.
The intrigue about which “object” was hit did not last long. According to the conclusions of OSINT analysts, the most likely target was the Taganrog Automobile Plant (TagAZ), a Russian enterprise that once assembled cars and trucks of various brands.
According to Exilenova+, local publications also wrote about the TaGAZ connection.
In recent years, due to the company’s financial problems, there has been a “re-profiling” there: the factory now produces drones for the Russian army.

” Atlant Aero LLC is located on the territory of TagAZ, which produces Molniya strike and reconnaissance drones and components for Orion UAVs,” the Exilenova+ post said.
Reaction of the Russian authorities
The first attack was recognized by the mayor of Taganrog, Svetlana Kambulova. She reported “minor damage to several facilities.” They were so “minor” that traffic had to be blocked in the area of the Beriev aircraft factory, located not far from TagAZ.

Twenty minutes later, Rostov Region Governor Yuriy Slyusar confirmed the attack. He no longer spoke about “minor damage”: the official wrote about “serious consequences.”
According to him, three Russians were injured in Taganrog.
“Commercial infrastructure was damaged. A fire broke out in the warehouse area,” said Slyusar.

Not the first defeat
This is not the first time that the Ukrainian Defense Forces have paid attention to the notorious former automobile factory, now the production facility of Atlant Aero. The company has been flown over at least twice.
One of the strikes took place on the night of November 25 last year.
“Numerous explosions and significant fires were observed on the territory of the facilities,” the General Staff described at the time the consequences of the attack on Atlant Aero and another “bold” target – the aircraft repair plant “TANTK named after G.M. Beriev.”
The second attack occurred on the night of January 13; then missiles were also fired at the plant.
“As part of measures to reduce the offensive capabilities of the Russian aggressor, on the night of January 13, units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine struck the Atlant Aero enterprise (Taganrog, Rostov Region, Russian Federation) with Ukrainian-made missiles. Atlant Aero carries out a full cycle of design, manufacture and testing of Molniya-type strike and reconnaissance UAVs, as well as components for the Orion UAV, ” the message said.
A few days later, the General Staff clarified the results of the repeated attack: the UAV final assembly shop, two production shops, and the administrative building of the enterprise were damaged.
It is not yet known what the manufacturer of drones for the occupation army managed to “hack” this time.
As OBOZ.UA reported, explosions were heard in the port of Yeisk on the night of April 19. After them, the Russians complained about a fire.
And the day before, on April 18, Ukrainian drones hit four Russian oil refining facilities at once. The General Staff spoke about the consequences of the hits.
According to SBS estimates, the aggressor is losing $100 million every day from recent attacks on the Russian oil and gas infrastructure alone (primarily in the Leningrad region).
