Residents of Russia have begun receiving SMS messages calling them to go to war with Ukraine en masse. The first to report this on the night of August 3 was Mikhail Klimarev, director of the Internet Defense Society. The publication Sota also wrote about this. In addition, a Meduza reader reported the same SMS .

“Sign a contract with the Ministry of Defense: from 800 thousand rubles and benefits. Call 117!” says the message that Russians receive from the short phone number 117.

Sota writes that one Russian resident, declared a “foreign agent,” received such a message. Her name is not disclosed.

The Russian Ministry of Defense  calls on those who want to enlist in the Russian army on a contract basis to call 117.
