In Odesa, they will deal with bright pharmacy signs that disturb drivers

The mayor of Odesa, Gennadiy Trukhanov, instructed to deal with bright light signs that can be confused with a traffic light signal and provoke a traffic accident. It is primarily about the green crosses of pharmacies.

“When this bright green color shines, especially in the evening, out of the corner of your eye you can confuse it with a traffic light and drive off,” Trukhanov noted at the meeting and tasked the head of the advertising department, Ihor Slyusarenko, to understand the situation and propose ways to solve the problem.

For his part, deputy of the city council and head of the transport commission Petro Obukhov believes that the city council needs to change the rules of landscaping and ban any bright flashing signs on the facades.

“The city council should adopt changes in the rules of the city improvement, which will prohibit any bright flashing signs on the facades,” said Petro Obukhov. — Especially those colors that resemble traffic lights — red, yellow, and green. They are mostly used by pharmacies and it is quite easy to confuse them with a traffic light with a side view. Some businessmen mistakenly believe that having a bright flashing sign can somehow significantly increase their profits. It’s not like that.”
