In North Ossetia, nine people died due to an interruption in the supply of oxygen in a hospital

In Vladikavkaz, nine people died due to the breakthrough of a pipe for supplying oxygen in a hospital, RBC reports with reference to the Ministry of Health of North Ossetia.

There was a breakthrough in the oxygen pipe, a breakdown was promptly detected, all services are working to eliminate it. Unfortunately, so far nine patients have died. They were in critical condition in the intensive care unit on a ventilator. The oxygen supply for the rest of the patients is adjusted, they were immediately supplied with oxygen through the reserve cylinders.

As clarified by “Interfax” and  TASS , the incident took place in the republican clinical emergency hospital in Vladikavkaz. All of the patients who died had the coronavirus.

According to preliminary data, the cause of the accident was the deterioration of the underground highway leading from the oxygen station to the intensive care unit, a source told Interfax.

The interim head of North Ossetia Sergei Menyailo said that from tomorrow all hospitals in the republic will be provided with a backup oxygen supply.

Previously, cases of death of patients due to a failure in the supply of oxygen occurred in hospitals in the Moscow Region and  Rostov-on-Don . The doctor who reported the death of 13 patients in the Rostov hospital later quit .
