The local authorities responded to the protests, calling them “illegal”.
Refugees from the city of Suja went to a rally in Kursk and demanded the evacuation of local residents who remained there. This is reported by the Russian mass media.
It is noted that approximately 120 people came to the protest. After that, Anatoliy Drogan, the representative of the administration of the Kursk region for internal policy, came to them. In particular, he offered the refugees to disperse and go to the public reception hall to make a collective appeal, but they refused.
“We don’t care where we freeze. It doesn’t matter if we freeze outside, we’re not at home anyway,” said one of the refugees.
After that, Drogan accused the refugees of organizing a “public illegal action”.
“You are being pushed to illegal actions. We live with you in the KTO regime (counter-terrorist operation regime – UNIAN), unfortunately, it does not depend on the authorities. The authorities did not push any of the enemies to the border, this is war. […] This is not managed by the authorities, there was a breakthrough, the troops who were there, they died. Believe me, the guilty are already detained. If it becomes easier for you, the military who allowed [the breakthrough], if they remained alive, they will be punished,” the official said.

To which the people replied that there were conscripts with assault rifles at the border during the offensive of the Armed Forces, so they should not be punished, but the “generals”. In addition, they demanded that the local administration actually admit that there was a war going on. Drogan was also asked why he came to them, and not the head of the Suzhan district Oleksandr Bogachev.
“Do you want to talk to us or scream? If you scream, all this will end right now,” the official added.
Later, another official came to the square and promised to organize a meeting with the governor for the refugees.
