On Monday, June 10, an Afghan man attacked a Ukrainian woman with a knife in Germany . A 41-year-old woman was seriously injured in an attack in Frankfurt.

Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung writes about it . It is known that the attack took place on Monday around 14:00 on the promenade on the banks of the Main next to the European Central Bank.

At that time, the woman was sitting on a bench in the park, when a 19-year-old man came up behind her unnoticed, grabbed her by the shoulder and, without warning, struck her with a paring knife several times in the area of ​​the head and neck. According to the police, the perpetrator and the victim were not familiar with each other. FAZ writes that the injured woman is Ukrainian and did not know the attacker.

“According to the police, the woman managed to briefly free herself from the assailant’s grasp and run a few meters away. When she tripped and fell to the ground, the suspect caught up with her and stabbed his victim, who was lying on the ground, several times with a knife. As the woman was screaming, passers-by learned about that’s when they rushed to her aid. At that moment, the suspect let go of his victim and disappeared,” the article says.

Eyewitnesses gave the woman first aid and called the police and the rescue service. A police helicopter was deployed to search for the perpetrator, who is an Afghan national and rumored to be from Baden-Württemberg. He was eventually found in the bushes on Oskar von Müllerstrasse, not far from the European Central Bank.

The Frankfurt District Court issued an arrest warrant on suspicion of attempted murder with grievous bodily harm. The suspect is in custody. Nothing is known about the motives of the attack.
