Over the past year, large oil and energy companies in Russia have held almost 300 tenders for the purchase of “counter-unmanned aerial vehicles,” Important Stories found out .

According to journalists, the purchase amount is at least one billion rubles. It is impossible to calculate more precisely, since many auctions are held on closed platforms, “Important Stories” clarifies.

“Countermeasures” include man-portable counter-drone systems, anti-drone guns, and fixed electronic detection and suppression systems for drones. The companies also plan to build protective structures in the form of nets stretched between masts, which should detain drones, and erect concrete blocks.

Among the companies that hold tenders, “Important Stories” name Rosneft, Lukoil, Bashneft, Slavneft and Transneft.

Experts interviewed by Important Stories doubt that anti-drone guns will be effective in defense: according to one expert, they are designed to suppress communication with the operator, and long-range drones fly autonomously.
