The actions of the Russians at the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant are classified as a war crime, the Main Intelligence Directorate says.

Today, Russian occupiers launched FPV drones at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant in such a way as to simulate shelling allegedly from Ukraine. This was announced by Andrey Yusov, a representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

“Today Russia decided to use FPV drones to simulate shelling allegedly from Ukraine. Ukraine’s position is clear, clear and unambiguous – we do not commit provocations at nuclear facilities in the war zone. The aggressor must leave the Zaporizhia NPP,” he emphasized.

Yusov noted that we are now seeing another wave of provocations from the Russian Federation regarding the Ukrainian nuclear power plant – Zaporozhye NPP, which is the largest in Europe. He added that this is not the first time this has happened.

“Provocations with the aim of blaming Ukraine. Although the whole world, the international community knows that it is the Russian Federation that is the aggressor state, which illegally seized a nuclear facility contrary to all norms of law and is illegally holding it,” said a representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate.

He emphasized that the occupiers use the Zaporizhia NPP, in particular, for military purposes and this is another war crime. According to him, there is photo and video recording of the illegal deployment of Russian troops and heavy equipment at the station, mining of the station territory, regular launching of UAVs from the station territory, including attack and kamikaze ones, as well as shelling from MLRS and mortars.

Yusov spoke about deliberate discrimination against Ukrainian citizens who remain at the station and continue to perform their duties. “For example, passes for those who refuse to enter into agreements and contracts with Rosatom are issued in yellow and blue. This is a direct analogy with how the Nazis treated Jews during the Second World War. This is such moral and psychological pressure,” – he emphasized.

At the same time, Yusov added that there are many such employees at the station. According to him, the occupiers from Russian territory are trying to attract employees to the nuclear facility through social networks, which creates additional threats.
