Despite the fact that Russia continues to attack Ukraine , the United States does not intend to resume aid to Kiev until it is convinced that the Ukrainians want peace. And in general, the United States may withdraw from this conflict. This was stated by President Donald Trump at a briefing in the White House.

So, when asked by a journalist whether military aid to Ukraine should be resumed since Russia is launching strikes, Trump said that he “should know” that the Ukrainians “want to negotiate” peace.

“I don’t know if they want to end the war. If they don’t want to end the war, we’ll get out of there. And I’m doing this (apparently, he’s talking about stopping aid to Ukraine – UNIAN) to stop the war. That’s more important than anything else. (…) I’ve been watching what’s been happening in Europe for the last week or so. It could end up in World War III if we don’t sort this out,” he said.

According to Trump, European countries do not know how to end the war in Ukraine. The US President assured that he knows exactly what is required for this.

“I’ve always had a good relationship with Putin. And, you know, he wants to end the war. And I think he’s going to be more accommodating than he should be. And that’s a very good thing. It was a war that should never have happened. I talked to Vladimir about that. Ukraine was always on his radar, but he never wanted to go there. He knew there would be consequences. But the war happened anyway,” Trump said.
